Hey there! I’m pretty bad at keeping up with this blog thing, but I wanted to put some of the new and exciting stuff out in the open.
Nails is going really well. We just started enhancements and I’m loving it! Bought an acrylic set today so I can be sure to add that into my services once I graduate. I’ve also been building my polish collection so you all will have more options to choose from. I know that my go-tos (black, red, burgundy, and dark purple) are not for everyone.
I’ve decided on a name for when I relaunch everything-so next is getting all the legal stuff situated and work on designing all of the branding. I’m hoping to have it all ready to go in September.
In the meantime, I’ve been doing a few clients here and there. I’m trying to get in as many brides, photo shoots, and other projects as I can this summer so don’t hesitate to contact me to see if I’m available for your date!
Things are changing pretty quickly around here. By the end of July I will be adding in NAILS to my lists of services!
I had to take my website down for a while, but I will be designing something completely new just in time for Fall.
Big news! I’ve started working as an Esthetics Instructor. This means, for now, if my Saturday mornings aren’t already booked with a wedding, I will be teaching. I do still have availability for Fridays, Sundays, and Saturday evening weddings. Contact me and I’ll check on your date!
This is particularly exciting for me for several reasons. It combines everything I’ve ever done into one perfect job. I get to do makeup and skin care services, but I also get to teach them-putting that MA in Art Education into at least a little bit of practice. Also, and probably more importantly, I get to educate and inspire so many new estheticians that will be coming to a spa or salon near you very shortly. This has been a passion and a dream of mine for so long that it’s hard to believe that it’s becoming a reality.
The bridal photos are starting to roll in. Thank you to all of the brides and photographers that are sending them all to me! I’m still working on getting them on my actual site, but at least they are on Facebook until that day comes.
Now that the weather is getting nicer, it is time to start thinking about weddings and proms. This is such an exciting time of year for me!
I did my first wedding of the season two weeks ago. It was such an honor to work with this bride. She is someone whom I have known for a few years and deeply admire for her talents as well as her strength of character. Her wedding was very small and quite unique. To this day, only her closest family and friends even know she got married! It was a lot of fun for me to know her secret before any of our mutual friends.
This was such a great start to what I hope will be a memorable year of beautiful brides!
I finally got around to uploading my bridal photos onto Facebook. They’re not on my website yet, but that’s just because I have yet to find a format that I think is pretty. I am toying around with using a different site to host them on, but who knows yet.
Anyway…I have way fewer photos than I thought I did. If I have done makeup for your wedding, please, please, please send me those photos so that everyone can look at your beautiful face!
As you can imagine, this is a slower time of year for those of us in makeup-land. Every year I try to take steps to improve my business and my artistry. Before I get into that though, I would like to take a second to thank all of my clients from last year. My brides, photographers, and the commercial accounts I worked on. I had a blast at every job I went to. You all really reminded me how much I love this industry and why I got involved with it to begin with!
This year I’m hoping to make some BIG changes. The first of which involves embracing this wonderful world of the Internet. For years I have been working exclusively from word of mouth references, but with this renewed focus on growth, it’s really time for me to embrace the technology that’s available out there. A few months ago I started my Facebook page, and this month, I am building my website. They are both pretty bare-bones right now, but they are coming along behind the scenes, I promise!
With that being said, be sure to “like” me on Facebook, and if you got to this blog by any means other than my website, check that out too! *A word of caution on my website though, it’s ver ugly right now. Keep checking back for updates*
